Hi everyone!
We hope you're keeping warm or staying cool. We've had a busy start to the year, full of different jobs, as you'll soon hear about. We've decided we'd like to start writing here more regularly; with the social media fatigue a lot of us are feeling, this gives people a way to keep up with Dinko news without feeling overwhelmed!
We're here today to tell you about a cute little videogame we made recently... Milky Honey!
This game was made for a show we put on at St Kilda Film Festival at the beginning of the month. We made it in only a week, so we're pretty pleased with how it came out all things considered – and those who played it seemed to dig it, too!
If you were able to make it to the event, thank you!
It's gonna be a while until the game is available online, but in the meantime, Olivia documented the development process to share on YouTube!
...and of course, here's an update from both of us.
Hi, Olivia here!
What an interesting year it's been so far... despite going through some challenges, I've been consistently in a really great mood, feeling energized and enjoying work and life ^_^
Quick Surf Club update: it has been going really well. I went to ALT:GAMES in Sydney in April to exhibit it, and the crowd was the most friendly bunch of people I've ever met! If you were there, thank you so much for playing my game!
Anyway, about Milky Honey...!
If there's one thing you should know about us... it's that we love a little side project. We jump at the opportunity to make a new tiny game, even if our time and energy are limited, and in this case they definitely were! But unlike some of the other time-sensitive games we've made (looking at you... goblin tcg...) this game had a scope that was actually very achievable!
We're very pleased with how Milky Honey came together, and I hope it reflects in the video I made. I don't wanna spoil the video so I'll keep things brief here, but switching up my game art process gave me so much energy and I'm so satisfied with the results. Expect more hand-made games in the future, because it was so much fun! But that'll have to wait till after Surf Club... I keep getting distracted from my main project! Lol!
I'd really like to share more updates on our games via YouTube, so I hope you'll give my video a watch and please share with me your thoughts on it, as I'd like to keep improving my video-making skills!!
Howdy, it's Andy.
I've been freakin busy!!
I released part one of my Knuckle Sandwich retrospective over on Youtube, and it went great! There's a lot to cover, so more to come in the future.
I also finally got to announce that I’ve been working on Deltarune for the last year and a half. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the project – glad I can finally talk about it! :~)
Now, as for Milky Honey… I’m pretty sure Liv’s video covers most of it, but just to reiterate – I had a blast making it! I wanna get into making more bespoke controllers and displays, so hopefully we’ll have more chances for that again.
Also, I’ve started streaming again and working on small games like Milky Honey live. Check out the Discord if you wanna see more. :~)
Thanks for reading!
